    The problem

    Globally, there are tens of millions of weddings per year, but despite a growing market in dress resale, only a small minority of dresses will be resold (around 5-10%). This is often due to alterations, age and condition.

    It's estimated a bride will wear her dress for an average 8-12 hours on her wedding day.

    The growing trend for multiple bridal looks for each stage of the day means each dress could be worn for as little as 4-6 hours.

    Not a great Cost-Per-Wear outcome for what should be the most beloved item of clothing a woman will ever own.

    The Reality

    Roughly half of all wedding dresses globally are made of polyester or polyester blends.

    This means unsold dresses that end up in landfill will typically take around 20 to 200+ years to biodegrade.

    In many real-world conditions it may take even longer (or basically never fully biodegrade in the normal sense).

    Instead of breaking down like natural fibres, polyester usually fragments into microplastics over time.

    When you consider around 5-10 metres of fabric are used to make a single wedding
    dress, that’s a horrible amount of microplastics ending up in our oceans and environments.

    The Answer

    We buy pre-loved wedding dresses to order, launder and deconstruct them and use these textiles to create unique, brand new wedding pieces.

    We realised through working with brides for many years that wedding dresses need to reflect the bride's sense of style, be comfortable, be verstile and above all breathtaking.

    With this in mind we created the 3 pillars of a wedding day outfit:

    • THE FOUNDATIONS
    • THE OVERPIECE
    • THE ACCESSORIES

    This allows brides to choose the components that create their wedding day outfit, making it completely bespoke.

    If the pieces are created as separates
    rather than stitched together as a static, single dress, the bride then has the option to wear and style her bridal pieces back with her existing wardrobe after her wedding day.
